Inspire your friends!

After watching the London Marathon on TV this morning I have been inspired to go for a run this evening, maybe not as far as 26 miles though!

Lindsey from Blue Peter has taken on the 26.2 miles this year as she is promoting the Blue Peter Sports Badge! She did a quick interview half way through her run and said to check out the website to find out more, so I have!  To be awarded a badge you need to inspire a friend to join you in your sport.

Check out the link below to see if you could be awarded a badge, I would love to hear some of your stories of inspiring a friend to join you in your sport.

What a brilliant idea Miss Brazil. Shall we talk about this in assembly tomorrow – fits in well with Have a Go!

    This is a fantastic idea!

If you are interested in taking up running regularly, I recommend Park Run on Wimbledon Common every Saturday morning. Under 11’s must be accompanied by an adult but what a great way to inspire your parents to get fit too! You can meet new people who will encourage you, and they keep a record of your times so you can monitor your improvement. http://www.parkrun.org.uk/wimbledon/course/ – lots of Merton Park pupils have taken part in this regularly.

I also suggest getting some good music to run to. Think about the beat of the track compared to how fast you want to run. We could start a Merton Park running playlist based on your recommendations.

I love this idea- it really promotes the idea of trying out new things, learning along the way and keeping fit.
There are so many sports out there, why not give a new one a go?!
